Long-term Partner for Enduring Value

Copley has designed our team, committed capital base, and investment process to exclusively work with and help grow businesses operating in the lower-middle market. We invest in successful private companies that have been built by great management teams and entrepreneurs. Our capital, experience, and commitment help companies continue to achieve and create long-term value.

About Us

Established in 2012, Copley makes investments in privately held, lower-middle market companies. Copley invests out of an evergreen, single family office, capital base. Our Founding team is responsible for all funding, and investment decisions, allowing for flexibility in transaction structure, ownership, sector, and exit time horizon. Our patient, family-office, capital base allows us to be agnostic to the standard private equity and venture capital funding cycle and focus on helping our portfolio companies build enduring businesses.

Our Focus

Our unique capital base allows us to invest in companies that do not fit the venture capital template and are typically “too small” for traditional middle-market private equity firms.

Lower Middle Market Companies in North America

  • Private companies generating $1 to $15 million in earnings or free-cash flow
  • Typically founder owned and operated with strong management
  • A stable revenue base often with recurring characteristics
  • Industry agnostic; we invest across a broad range of sectors

Copley Investment Characteristics

  • Investing $5 to $50 million in equity per transaction
  • Comfortable in both majority and minority equity positions
  • Growth capital, owner liquidity, acquisition financing, debt retirement
